Temecula Homicide: Woman stabbed to death at Temecula Mall identified as local singer Bipsy, man arrested for murder
Woman killed was Elizabeth ‘Bipsy’ Amirian, local singer and pianist, well known for beautiful compositions
Temecula, California - According to police, on Thursday, February 12, 2009, at about 1:08 pm, a sergeant from the Temecula Police Department was on patrol at the Promenade Mall. The sergeant observed a Toyota mini van parked in the 3rd level of the East Parking Structure. He observed an assault within the mini van where a male adult was stabbing a female.![]()
The officer called for back up and immediately ordered the suspect out of the vehicle. The suspect did not comply with the orders. A back-up patrol car arrived and the assisting officer began to break out the rear window to the mini van. The suspect did not comply with the commands given. Officers deployed their taser and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
The officers rendered first aid and called for medical assistance from the fire department. The female, later identified as 27 year old Elizabeth ‘Bipsy’ Amirian of Temecula, died at the scene. The suspect in this homicide has been identified as Mickey
David Beauchamp Wagstaff, a White male adult, 25 years of Pala, California. Mr Wagstaff was taken to a local hospital after his arrest for unspecified injuries.
Investigators from the Temecula Police Department and Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Central Homicide Unit arrived and assumed the crime scene. ABC 7 reported from the scene live and according to CBS 2, the suspect was transported to Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta. Investigators believe this incident is domestic violence related.
Bipsy was known by many in the local Temecula Valley Music and Arts Scene, and had performed at many popular events like the City of Temecula’s Harveston music series in August and the Temecula Music Fest in May. She played many times at the old Java Joz Open Mic Night, joining in on jam sessions with her trademark ‘mouth trumpet’ and amazing vocals. She also worked there at Java Joz many late nights making mochas before it closed.
Bipsy was in the process of working on a CD, having spoke to her recently at a coffee shop, she had told me that she looked forward to performing again. She was an enormous talent as seen in the videos above. As we get more information about this crime and her services, we will post updates. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call the Temecula Police Department at 951-696-3300.

Maybe- If the police officer with a gun would have shot the man with a knife who was killing a defenseless lady with no weapon instead of calling for backup and waiting for them to get there and then breaking out a back window the lady would be alive and the would have been killer would be dead. A much better scenario.

I agree with pissed off. These Temecula officers are so quick to pull everyone over for the most petty items and do not treat the citizens with any respect at all. But when they’re really needed, they wait for back up.
An innocent person is dead. Her attacker will be just fine and the officer goes home to his family. The only person who needed help, didn’t get it.

I share the frustration and anger with the previous two comments; however, understanding the rules of engagement that police officers are scrutinized under sheds light on their “slow” due process. Obviously, the real victim is the woman and the only perpetrator is the man that attacked. To blame the police is to shift blame onto overworked and underpaid law officials that have their hands metaphorically tied by the “laws of the land.”
For argument sake, imagine if the arriving officer broke into the van, guns blazing only to find out that the man and woman were performing an innocent action. The officer would have been blamed, Temecula police would have a lawsuit on their hands, and this blog would be filled with disgust and contempt with issues of police brutality, lack of foresight, and the need for restructuring in the police force.
So, if you want to blame, keep it to the attacker, not to those that are walking a fine line of enforcing the law yet protecting your right of privacy everyday.

I agree with 1 and 2. NOT 3

Perhaps Mr. Kurt can not read. “A male adult was stabbing a female” I wonder where he lives that they would consider that an innocent action. Police officers are there to protect us. If someone is getting stabbed and the police order them to stop and they dont he/she is not goinf to get in much trouble for shooting the stabber. Then to wait for backup before doing anything.
Pehaps the article is incorrect but if this went down like the article reads the police were not performing their duties. The police did not kill the young lady..Negligent homicide comes to mind. The way the article reads the police could perhaps have tried to save her life. They didnt do anything. I am not blaming the police. The man killed her. If the article is correct the police most likely contributed to her death by not stopping the stabbing immediately

Knowone knows what took place in that van prior to the police arriving. There are other possible scenarios. They were both kind individuals. It’s very sad, tragic and a shock to those who knew them.

If the young lady had a handgun, she might have had a chance. But we all know that guns are bad - they can kill murderous people. Thank you liberals, and the ACLU.
Why don’t liberals ban cars? People are killed in them everyday . Should also ban aircraft, seeing as an aircraft just killed 50 people in Buffalo, NY. Gotta ban food, people choke to death everyday too. While they’re at it, just ban LIFE itself… after all, it’s the only way to guarantee no one ever dies again, right?
The people of California need to get off their spineless, self-absorbed behinds and vote for our Constitutionally derived rights to be restored… you know, like honoring the will of The People after voting on a State referendum.
My God bless this young lady, who was sold out by our liberal wussy politicians and the Trial Lawyers Association, whom create laws that serve to protect the criminals primarily…as sadly evidenced in this matter.

THis is so incredibly sad….may God give her family and friends peace in spite of this horiffic incident. There are many evils in this world that will one day be erradicated. HE WILL get his in the end…and that will be a good day. She suffered a few minutes of pain to inherit an eternity of happiness with the Lord. May God give them a peace that surpasses all understanding. We will not understand on this side of eternity.

I’m surprised with Marion’s response. While no one knows what happened in the van prior to what we all now know about, what seems to be obvious is that he killed her with repeated stabs. That does not seem like something a kind person does regardless of what happened before hand.
Maybe kind and insane go hand in hand.

I knew Bipsy many years ago… we actually dated for awhile. She had a big heart, and unfortunately she attracted many freaks and psychos just like this guy. I don’t want to even imagine what her last moments must have been like, but at least she’s at peace now in the presence of God. What a tragedy… and what a sick, sad waste of human life that took hers from her.

I went to high school with Bipsy. Regretfully, I didn’t know her that well but remember her always being kind and sincere to everyone she encountered. She was full of life and talent. My heart and prayers go out to her family and friends.

First I want to say i am truly sorry for the loss of this young girl she seemed to make the most of life and to have it ripped away like that is awful. but to the matter at hand i can understand where #3 is coming from but at the same time i agree with the other people about his lack of courage and him not doing his duties. i don’t know how many times us California’s have heard about the police acting first then asking questions later. for example i don’t know if any one remember the shooting of Tyisha Shenee Miller and guess what she only had the gun in her lap and she was having a seizure but they shot her 27 times but yet this man was stabbing and if the paper is right he saw the stabbing but yet they did nothing. i know that what im about to say next may seem offend some people but im sorry actions don’t lie. but maybe if the man had been black or Mexican and not white they would have shot first then asked questions later. because time and time again it seems to the police that they don’t want to brake up a white mans innocent action but we all know if it were a man of color they would not mind breaking up there innocent action.

First of all, you can’t just start shooting into a vehicle when someone is being assaulted inside. They could have hit her instead of him. The police did exactly what they were supposed to do. The only person to blame here is the sick freak who took her life.

Bipsy Was my roommate in College…and I am VERY VERY upset about this….she would never harm a fly she was an amazing christian beautiful singer and would love the people that other people would not love… because she knew what it felt to not be loved in her life. if you knew her or was her friend you would know what i am talking about… THIS GUY WILL PAY FOR WHAT HE DID TO HER!!!!!!! I Love you BIPSYS!!! n-9 forever!!
February 17, 2009 at 4:43 pm
so in response to andy #7, liberals are not the ones to blame here just because your so close minded and have to blame all that on her not having a gun herself and then attacking the liberals for the reason of her not having a gun. i am sorry but guns are not not allowed you just have to have them registered and maybe she didnt want a gun. the guy was a physco there is no reason to blame everyone else but him.

This is Bipsy’s brother. The early news reports were inaccurate. The police did NOT see him stabbing her, they did not know that there was a girl in the van until after they had dragged him out. They should not be blamed for anything, they acted in the best way possible given the facts. There’s no reason to be angry at them.
Bipsy loved people too much and looked past their faults, especially when it came to boyfriends who didn’t deserve her at all. Including one ex-boyfriend who ended up sending threatening and perverted comments to her online even after she told him to stop. It hurts to have to wish that she wasn’t so nice.
Anyone who thinks this might somehow be Bipsy’s fault, at least a little: wrong. She was stabbed in the back multiple times, tied up and not allowed to flee the van. Mickey was seen by police stabbing himself after killing her, which is how he got cuts on himself. This is ALL him, and probably pre-meditated. Make of that what you will, but don’t try to rationalize that kind of behavior. We all hope that God can forgive him, but of course whatever the consequences are for his actions, he’ll have to face them.

You all know cops go through training! on how to disarm someone with a knife without using a gun. they have a baton also that can knock you out flat. The only person to blame is that SOB that took her life. But If the cop had more balls he would have acted quicker broke that window ripped him off her then called backup it may have ended differently. we need more selfless people in this world. RIP Bipsy we all miss you

Hey Isaac… I know that was a dig at me, but I don’t think you know the whole story. I loved Bipsy like my own sister… I loved all you guys. I was an immature punk back then and I said some stupid things and I’m sorry. It doesn’t matter though, that’s all in the past. I wish we could all go back to being friends again like the old days at New Covenant. It’s been almost 8 years but it seems like yesterday. I’m so sorry this happened man… but praise God it’s all over for her. No more pain… just eternal peace and joy. I’m praying for you and your mom and Michael. Love you guys… God bless.

BEFOR ANY of you ignorant idiots assume that the woman was partly at fault! If you read further into the investigation. the stupid cop stood their watching waiting for backup. while the attacker repeatedly stabbed the poor woman (BOUND AT THE FEET) the boyfriend was a psycho! I spit both on the cop for not doing his job and Mickey David Beauchamp for taking the life of my dear friend Bipsy. Mickey David Beauchamp I pray you rot in Hell.
Bipsy may you rest in peace, I love you.

For those of you who do not know, which it seems that most of you do not, Bipsy was dead by the time the security arrived. Regardless if the man had called for backup or rushed over to the individual, it was already too late for Bipsy. Furthermore, upon a hostile situation where a weapon is involved, calling for backup is the first step for an officer, lest the villain get the better of the officer and the villain walks “scott free” from the scene without anybody else informed of what happened. We don’t live in a perfect world, and there are a million different ways this situation could have gone down; however, our dear friend Bipsy was already dead upon arrival of the security team. As for those of you knuckle-heads that think she is responsible, fully or in part, for what happened to her, really think of what you are saying. If somebody invoked such emotions in you, would you resort to stabbing that individual? If you answered yes, then you are sick. I hope you never see the light of day anymore, Mickey.

I feel sorry for those of you that believe it your right to pass judgement on a situation where you know little to nothing. You never will know what truly happened because you weren’t there. It is so unfortunate that she died and that this terrible thing took place.
No one can pass judgement. You may not be murderers, but you are far from perfect.

There is a plan in all of this. We don’t know the first thing about it, nor can we ever. Our ways are not the ways of the Planner, the Architect of the Universe. In Bipsy’s life she was dedicated to the service of the Planner, and his Son. (It’s a family business, right?) Senseless and tragic as this murder was, we all knew that time would be short on this earth for her. Of course, it was widely presumed that she would fall in the mission field in some far-off land. Obviously, this was not part of the plan. As a prominant local historian has mentioned “Only the good die young.”
To the memory of our friend, I raise this as a fond farewell and requiem en pace.
As for Mr. Mickey David Beauchamp Wagstaff, we’ll just have to see if things go according to the plan…

I agree with 7. 15 is wrong–guns are NOT allowed on a person just by registering them. You can’t carry any weapon that can be concealed. Go ahead, I dare you to walk around with a pistol in your pocket and have an officer catch a glance of it. Guns should be afforded to people that have a clean record. It’s a known fact that societies where law-abiding citizens are allowed to carry concealed weapons have much LOWER rates of violent crimes. It’s obvious why. The criminal who lives in a society where he knows law-abiding citizens are NOT allowed to be armed are more apt to exert their will on them….the opposite is true where law-abiding citizens do carry guns. I didn’t know Bipsy so I don’t know if she would have carried a gun, but I know my daughters would carry one in a heart-beat if they were allowed to. With that in mind, I’d feel a lot safer when they went out at night. Liberals are hypocrites and shouldn’t use cars, knives, etc.
