Wildomar car crash claims the life of Temecula teen and injures four others
Wildomar, California - On Friday, January 17, 2009 around 730pm, officers assigned to the City of Wildomar responded to the area of Bundy Canyon and Monte Vista concerning a major injury collision. Upon arrival, officers found two vehicles had collided head on. Members of Cal Fire arrived on scene and began to assess injuries. During this assessment, one of the involved motorists was pronounced dead.
Due to the severity of the collision, The Lake Elsinore Police Department’s Traffic Reconstruction Team was called to assume investigative responsibility. A preliminary investigation indicates a red Chevy S-10 truck, driven by Cory Tavares, age 19, of Menifee, was traveling east on Bundy Canyon. The Chevy drifted left of the center lines and collided head on with a silver Toyota Corolla, which was traveling westbound and occupied by four teens.
The driver of the Toyota, Michael Stone, age 18 of Temecula was killed in the collision. The remaining passengers in the Toyota, a 17 year old female juvenile, a 16 year old female juvenile and a 16 year old male juvenile were transported to an area hospital for treatment of various injuries. The identity of the juveniles are being withheld due to their ages.
